Dr. Saad Saad is a board-certified pediatric surgeon who was the Surgeon-in-Chief and Co-Medical Director at K Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in New Jersey through the Hackensack Meridian Health Care System before he retired. As a pediatric surgeon with over 40 years of experience, he has performed thousands of surgeries on children from infants to young adults. A portion of these surgeries were done on medical missions where Dr. Saad Saad performed procedures on poor children in Jerusalem.


Born in Palestine but raised in Kuwait as an impoverished refugee, Dr. Saad Saad and all 7 of his siblings are success stories. He is one of three surgeons, 2 Ph.D. engineers, 2 Masters Degree engineers, and a teacher. In 1971, Dr. Saad Saad graduated from the University of Cairo. During his third year of medical school, Dr. Saad Saad flew to Lebanon from Egypt to take the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates exam, or ECFMG. Passing this exam and earning the certification changed his life forever and made it possible for him to continue his medical training in the United States of America. When Dr. Saad Saad graduated in 1971, he was the second in his class which earned him the title of Salutatorian with honors.


Under the mentorship of Dr. H Biemann Othersen, Dr. Saad Saad completed a residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1979. Prior to this, he was a resident at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey until he completed his training there in 1977. Dr. Saad Saad also holds fellowships at the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons.


Dr. Saad Saad believes in research, organization, and treating the children under his care with the same quality of care he would give his own children. He strongly believes that research is what leads to results and that is why it is so important and one should insist on their goals to ensure that they are possible to achieve.
